World Languages

In the World Language Department we strive to offer students the opportunity to engage with language and culture in a meaningful way.

We want our students to develop:

  • strong communication skills in their own and their second language.

  • knowledge of issues and ideas that are important locally, nationally and globally.

  • tolerance for difference in a diverse and complicated world.

  • confidence in themselves as creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

At Littleton High School we offer levels 1 - 5 in French and Spanish with the option to take either an unweighted regular class or a weighted honors class at levels 2, 3 and 4. Upper level students have multiple pathways to earn college credit by taking our Concurrent Enrollment (CE) level 4 class, the level 4 International Baccalaureate (IB) class or the level 5 Advanced Placement (AP) class.  All IB bound students must take honors.  AP bound students are encouraged to take honors.

Students who complete four years of study in the same World Language are eligible to apply for the Colorado Seal of Biliteracy, a credential that is attractive to future employers and college admissions offices.
