Dr. Amy Oaks, Principal

Secretary – Jennifer Kelley, 303-347-7716

Dr. Oaks was raised in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and Port Jefferson, New York.  She earned a BA in Political Philosophy from Wellesley College, as well as an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and a PhD in School Leadership from the University of Denver.  She also studied at the Technische Universitaet, Berlin, the Freie Universitaet, Berlin, and The University of Colorado, Boulder.

Dr. Oaks started teaching right out of high school.  Her first job was teaching kids to sail on Long Island Sound and on the Annisquam River.  She taught in sun and rain, wind and weather, and is proud (and relieved) that she never lost a single sailor.

She has worked in public education since 1989, starting as a teacher of English and Social Studies, and then as an assistant principal at Skyview High School, in Thornton, CO.  She came to Littleton Public Schools in 1999 and has worked as an assistant principal at Arapahoe High School, Principal at Goddard Middle School, Director of Secondary Education, and currently as principal here at Littleton High School.

Dr. Oaks works year-round as the Littleton High School Principal, but when she has free time she enjoys running, skiing, sailing, and travel.  She is married to Gregg Kvistad, and has two awesome black cats, Big Boy and Little Boy.  She learned her philosophy of life in beginning sailing class:   keep a weather eye out; one hand for the ship and the other for yourself; and remember, you can sail in any wind at all unless there is no wind, in which case you better start paddling!

Dr. Oaks loves the Lions and is proud to be their principal.
