What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program?

The Diploma Program (DP) is a rigorous curriculum designed by the International Baccalaureate for juniors and seniors.  Students study six subjects over two years and complete an Extended Essay (a 4,000 word research essay), Theory of Knowledge Course (TOK) and participate in 150 hours of Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS).

Why IB?

  • College credit often given for IB courses at many Universities
  • International classes prepare students to be a leader in our changing global society
  • Two year, cohesive, comprehensive curriculum not a collection of individual courses
  • Students learn to think independently and critically

How to apply

We encourage all students to take an IB course or sign up for the IB Diploma Program.

Current LHS 8th-10th grade students interested in IB can fill out our interest form HERE.

The interest form (to be completed by student) for students entering 9th grade in the fall of 2025 can be found HERE.

The IB interest form and the open enrollment application are handled by different offices, but complete applications may be submitted simultaneously. Please note that the open enrollment windows have changed. Families needing to apply for open enrollment should visit the How to Enroll page of the website for forms and procedures.

IB admissions decisions will be made, and letters mailed, once your interest form is complete and you have been approved for open enrollment.

Course Candidates

Students not wanting to commit to our diploma program can enroll in IB classes as course candidates. Course candidates take exams in May with our diploma candidates and may be eligible to earn college credit. All exam fees and regulations apply.
