LPS Board of Education selects Dr. Todd Lambert as the next LPS superintendent

Dr. Todd Lambert portraitDuring its regularly scheduled meeting February 23, 2023, the Littleton Public Schools Board of Education – in a 5-0 vote – selected Dr. Todd Lambert as the next LPS superintendent. The Board’s announcement came earlier than originally anticipated as Board members reached consensus quickly and felt it was in the best interests of the district and both finalists to announce the selection as soon as possible. Pending successful contract negotiations, the Board will take action on Dr. Lambert’s contract during the March 9, 2023 Board meeting.

Board may announce superintendent selection earlier than anticipated

The LPS Board of Education concluded its community feedback and interview portions of its superintendent search process Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Finalists Melissa Cooper and Todd Lambert were interviewed by three community interview committees during the day; the Board interviewed each finalist last night in open session. The Board then deliberated in executive session.

While Board members will continue discussions, they feel they could be reaching consensus on the selection of a new superintendent sooner than the originally anticipated date of March 9, 2023.

Therefore, the Board has added the action item, “Superintendent of Littleton Public Schools Final Candidate” to the February 23, 2023 Board of Education agenda in the event Board members have reached consensus and are ready to announce their decision. They could also choose to hold a special meeting next week or could announce their selection during the March 9, 2023 Board meeting as originally planned.

Board members noted that if they are in agreement, it would be in the district’s best interests – as well as the best interests of both finalists –  to announce as soon as possible.

The Board’s final interviews capped a five-month superintendent search process centered on input and feedback from staff members, parents, students, and community leaders. Feedback was gathered from all constituencies through surveys, focus groups, receptions, community interview committees, phone calls and emails to the Board. Thanks to everyone who participated in these opportunities.

LPS Board of Education Hires Superintendent Search Firm

During its special meeting Thursday, September 15, 2022, the LPS Board of Education interviewed the following two superintendent search firm finalists:

  • Ray and Associates
  • Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA)

Board members noted that both firms were highly skilled and had solid processes. After interviews and deliberation, the Board took action to hire Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) to facilitate finding the next LPS superintendent. There was consensus among Board members that HYA has exceptional processes and experience, detailed timelines, and greater accessibility, which make them a better fit for LPS.

Board members thanked representatives from both firms who were present in person and virtually during interviews.

Next Steps
The Board of Education will meet with HYA to create an LPS profile, develop a specific timeline for community input, plan vacancy postings, and outline the interview/selection process.

The Search Process

August 11, 2022

The Littleton Public Schools Board of Education is seeking a qualified, collaborative, and experienced executive search firm to assist the Board in its search for a new superintendent. The Board wishes to have a new superintendent selected in the February/March 2023 timeframe.
