VOICES WEST PRESENTS “IT’S ALL ELEMENTARY” BENEFIT CONCERT

Voices West, a SW Denver-area community choir, offers a “pay-what-you’re-able” fundraising concert to benefit Littleton’s East and Field Elementary Schools’ music programs.

In its fourth annual presentation of a benefit concert supporting elementary school music programs in Littleton Public Schools, Voices West will combine its talents with those of the fifth grade honor choirs from both East Elementary and Field Elementary schools. Supported by both the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) and the Littleton Public Schools Foundation, Voices West will offer this family-friendly performance as a “pay-what-you‘re-able” event, with all proceeds going directly to the music programs of the participating schools. The concert will be held at Field Elementary School on Friday, February 5th, 2016, beginning at 7:00 pm. Featuring a lighter fare, the students and the adults sing together, delivering a message that singing can be a life-long endeavor bringing fulfillment and enrichment to singers and audience alike.

A relationship between East Elementary and Voices West, then the Littleton Chorale, was forged 10 years ago to give back to the community that so generously supports the adult community choir. Current conductor and artistic director, Dr. Michael Todd Krueger, has continued to foster that relationship with the highly rewarding annual fundraising concerts, and is thrilled to be growing the event with the addition of a second area elementary school (Field) this year. The 2015 concert raised over $1,300 for Amy Gonzales and her music program at East, and with the involvement of additional supporters and neighborhoods this year, Voices West hopes to top $2,000 in funds raised. Checks will be presented to the schools’ music directors on behalf of Voices West by the Littleton Public Schools Foundation during school assemblies later in the month.

About Voices West

Voices West, Chorus of the Colorado Front Range, was founded as the Littleton Choral Society by Bud Nicholson in 1978. Through the vision of six different directors and several changes of name, Voices West is now one of the largest and most respected auditioned choral organizations in the Denver metro area.

The chorus draws singers and supporters from the Colorado Front Range including Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Centennial, Castle Rock and Denver. Performances take place throughout the southwest Denver metro area, and are generously supported by SCFD grants from Arapahoe County, Douglas County and Jefferson County. Voices West frequently collaborates with other music ensembles including the Colorado Chamber Orchestra, the Colorado Wind Ensemble and Young Voices of Colorado. Recent performances have included John Rutter’s Mass of the Children, the Mass in C Major by Beethoven, the Duruflé Requiem and Celebrations by Vincent Persichetti.

Current music director and conductor, Michael Todd Krueger, continues the exciting tradition of performing exceptional choral music for Colorado audiences.
