COVID Frequently Asked Questions for LPS Parents
You should keep your child home for any illness including cough, sore throat, runny nose or congestion, headache, nausea, muscle, body aches, chills, vomiting or diarrhea, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever of 100.4 or above or a new loss of taste or smell. A student/staff should not be kept home for usual symptoms they experience due to a chronic condition unless they are worse than usual. Please call the school and let the Health Assistant know if this is the case.
Your child does not need to quarantine if they are showing NO symptoms. Please keep them home and have them tested if they develop ANY symptoms.
Call your school’s attendance line and give the specific symptoms/illness your child has. Please refer to the “How Sick is too Sick” for information about when your child can return to school.
If your student demonstrates any of the symptoms listed above they will be isolated away from other students and you will be called to pick them up as quickly as possible.

All tests are accepted, however, a COVID-19 molecular amplification test (such as PCR, rapid molecular/NAAT, etc) is the most reliable test. Antigen tests (home tests) are less reliable and a negative test should be repeated 3 days after the first day if still symptomatic.
If your child has a positive COVID-19 test, please call your school’s attendance line and give the specific symptoms/illness your child has. Please isolate your child at home for five days from symptom onset.
