After reading ‘The Lemonade War’ in their third grade class, several students from Twain Elementary got together this summer and opened their own neighborhood lemonade stand in hopes of making enough money to buy a filtered water bottle refilling station for their school. The refilling station reduces the need for single-use plastic water bottles and makes it easier for kids to stay hydrated.
Their first sales effort netted $400, but not enough to buy the refilling station. When the students shared their story through the app Nextdoor, reps from Nextdoor posted that the Twain $400 total ranked them #3 in the country in lemonade stand sales, and Nextdoor offered to match their sales up to $500. The students were recently featured on Channel 7 News (see the story here) as they prepare for another lemonade stand in a second effort to make the refilling station a reality for their school. Help them achieve their goal and swing by the lemonade stand this Saturday, June 23rd at Twain Elementary!,
