Secured Perimeter at LPS schools has been lifted

UPDATE

11/18/15 - 1:00 PM

Dear Littleton Public Schools Families:

Local law enforcement has lifted the secured perimeter at all LPS schools.  Our school day continues as normal.  As a reminder, afternoon preschool and kindergarten sessions districtwide have been cancelled for today.  If you have a morning-session preschool or kindergarten student, you may pick them up at school now.

Thank you for your cooperation, patience, and partnership as we work to keep our students safe.

Dear Littleton Public Schools Families:

Local law enforcement has asked LPS to place all of our schools on secured perimeter while they respond to a situation near Sheridan Recreation Center. A “secured perimeter” means that students stay inside and are allowed to move freely within the building.  All exterior doors remain locked and no one is allowed in or out of the building.

Parents of morning preschool and half-day kindergarten students need to know that their students will remain at school until law enforcement lifts the secured perimeter from our schools.  You will be notified when this happens.  Afternoon preschool and kindergarten sessions districtwide have been cancelled for today.

This police activity has nothing to do with any of our schools.  LPS students are safe, and the school day is continuing as scheduled.  We thank our partners in local law enforcement for their timely and appropriate action in our area today.  We also thank our students and staff for their quick response; they knew exactly what to do.  We will update you as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep our students safe.
