As part of Colorado Safe Schools month, schools throughout LPS hosted special events during the month of October to promote safety, mental health and wellness. At the October 13th board meeting, the LPS Board of Education signed a proclamation in support of Safe Schools Month.

Additionally, Goddard Middle School presented Rachel's Challenge, an initiative that helps students learn how to be an agent of change to promote kindness in their school and community; Options Secondary held a Mindfulness Night to promote personal wellness and safety, including workshops for students and parents; and Multiple elementary schools are hosting Sungate Safe Kids assemblies or Kid Power workshops to promote personal safety and child abuse prevention. By the end of October, all LPS schools invited students, parents and staff to participate a climate survey about school safety and support.
