LPS Beliefs and GT Program Vision
In Littleton Public Schools (LPS), we have a goal that 100 percent of LPS students will graduate prepared for meaningful postsecondary opportunities. In our Gifted and Talented program, we uphold this ethos, striving to ensure that every student finds a place where they belong and thrive.
As part of our Student Support Services Team, the Gifted and Talented program seamlessly aligns with our 100 percent goal. We operate from the standpoint that all students are general education students first and always. This principle underscores our collective responsibility to provide access to rigorous learning experiences and environments for every individual. Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We work closely with educators, students, families, and the community to forge meaningful partnerships that are integral to the success of every student.
Our team ensures that all students, including those identified as Gifted, receive the support they need to excel. Together, we empower every student to achieve excellence and embrace their limitless potential. In LPS, "all means all," and we are unwavering in our commitment to ensuring that every individual reaches their full potential, making positive contributions to our vibrant community and beyond.
Gifted & Talented Program Overview
We use an inclusive model for our Gifted & Talented program; there is a GT Facilitator in every school. This ensures that Gifted students can attend their home school and get the support they need to meet their unique needs. Based on our core belief that all students are general education students first and always, GT Facilitators deliver specialized services for Gifted learners while also working through PLCs and other parallel professional development opportunities to enhance the capabilities of our general education teachers. Through this collaborative approach, we ensure Gifted students receive tailored academic and emotional support.
The district GT Specialist and GT Facilitators work to provide supports that include academic and affective programming at all levels and interdependence between general education teachers, specialists, and gifted education teachers.
Gifted & Talented Program Vision
The LPS Gifted Education program works to provide a robust and varied identification process that allows students from all backgrounds access to equitable identification opportunities in both academic and talent aptitudes. We believe in programming that meets the affective and intellectual needs of Gifted learners through collaboration with students, educators, parents, and community members. Together we continually strive to refine our practice for seeing and serving our Gifted students.
