Student Spotlight - December 12, 2024

The Student Spotlight segment of each Board meeting celebrates a student or a group of students who are living out the Portrait of an LPS Graduate, which highlights the life skills each LPS graduate should have. Tomorrow’s workers will succeed by constantly adapting to the changing world around them, and today’s students must begin by learning and developing life skills - where every student should be well-adjusted, thriving, and balanced.

Additionally, students will develop skills in:

  • Communication
  • Global/Cultural Awareness
  • Character & Critical Thinking
  • Problem Solving and Adaptability
  • Creativity and Risk Taking
  • Resiliency and Collaboration
  • Self Advocacy
  • All surrounding Rigorous and Relevant Academic Skills

LPS strives to implement opportunities to grow these skills at every level of education and recognize students of all ages. At their regularly scheduled meeting on December 12, 2024, the Board recognized the December graduates from Transition Services and senior members of the Littleton High School marching band during the Student Spotlight.

Transition Services
We were so excited to honor the December 2024 Transition Services Graduates! They will be graduating on December 17. They have worked so hard and realized such growth!

Two students holding certificates stand in front of a group of Board of Education members in a meeting room. The group is smiling, with one Board member giving a thumbs-up. The image is framed with curved blue and orange graphics, and the text 'STUDENT Spotlight' is prominently displayed in the bottom left corner.Payton Thompson has been a very strong SELF-ADVOCATE through her time at Transition Services, and we know this will continue to serve her throughout life. Payton has continued to push through challenges that come her way by being a strong and RESILIENT RISK-TAKER. She continues to adapt and grow as a young adult, and we look forward to celebrating her future successes.

Logan Barr has made tremendous growth during his time at Transition. He always knows his schedule and follows through with a positive attitude. He is a very hard worker and helps his teammates at work, too. Logan has stretched himself to try many new things at Transition. He cares about doing the right thing and is kind to others. He truly exemplifies the Portrait of a Graduate Traits of RISK-TAKING and CHARACTER.

Izaiha Castinado has made wonderful relationships with staff and fellow students. During his time at Transition, he has become more comfortable TAKING RISKS and trying new things, always with a positive attitude. He has also become quite skilled at navigating his community.

Arjun Mapari has made incredible growth toward his independence during his time at Transition Services. He especially enjoys being on-the-go, in the community and trying new experiences. Arjun is a good SELF-ADVOCATE and enjoys being with his peers and cares about others.

Cadence DeYoung, who goes by Cade, is the guy everyone loves to have on their team. He brings humor and fun while also being willing to chip in to help others and do his part to get the job done. Cade is flexible and ADAPTABLE. He is a go-with-the-flow guy who cares about doing the right thing and always works hard.

Congratulations to our December Transition Graduates!

Littleton High School

As student leaders of the Littleton High School marching band, these seniors have demonstrated the LPS Portrait of a Graduate through COLLABORATION with their peers.

Five students holding certificates pose in front of the Board of Education members in a meeting room, with one student sitting cross-legged in the front. Everyone is smiling, and one Board member gives a thumbs-up. The image is framed with curved blue and orange graphics, with the text 'STUDENT Spotlight' in the bottom left corner. The marching band is a unique activity where success depends entirely on the synchronization, timing, and teamwork of every individual. These leaders embraced that challenge, guiding their peers and ensuring that every performance reflected the highest standards of precision and passion.

Their leadership played a pivotal role in propelling LHS’s marching band to a second-place finish at the state competition in the highly competitive 3A division—a feat that we are all incredibly proud of.

Congratulations to these outstanding student leaders for their contributions to our district and for inspiring us all with their commitment to excellence:
