At their regularly scheduled meeting on September 26, 2024, the LPS Board of Education read a proclamation recognizing the incredible work of our classified employees and officially declared October 7–11 as Classified Employees’ Week in LPS. This week is dedicated to honoring the essential contributions of classified staff who play vital roles in keeping our schools running smoothly and ensuring our students are supported.
Classified employees are at the heart of every LPS school and work tirelessly in all areas of our district. You’ll find them greeting families in the front office, maintaining school facilities and grounds, driving buses, preparing nutritious meals, and supervising students during recess and before and after school. They coach sports teams, care for students’ health, assist in classrooms, and support our administrative staff. Whether it’s in the library, behind the scenes at the district office, or ensuring safety and cleanliness as custodians and security staff, classified employees are always there, contributing to the well-being and success of our students.
Their impact is felt daily, often in ways that go unnoticed–but never unappreciated. From the moment students arrive at school until they head home, classified employees are a constant presence, providing support, care, and expertise. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, and while they deserve recognition every day, Classified Employees’ Week is a special time to express our deep appreciation for all they do.
Thank you to all of our classified employees for your hard work, commitment, and service to LPS. You truly are the backbone of our district, and we couldn’t fulfill our mission without you!
