Dear LPS Senior Students and Families,

As we communicated in late March, LPS is committed to in-person graduation ceremonies for this year’s graduating seniors. We have spent the last several weeks planning for these ceremonies in accordance with the state’s social distancing directives and recommendations.  As announced by Governor Polis on Monday, gatherings of more than 10 people are still restricted and will be for the foreseeable future. Given the situation and in working with the University of Denver, we have decided to postpone the graduation ceremonies currently scheduled for Saturday, May 23. This includes postponing graduation ceremonies for Options Secondary High School and Transition Services, originally scheduled for earlier that week. 

We know this is disappointing news, but we are working to identify alternative days to host in-person ceremonies. LPS leaders and staff at the University of Denver are working to finalize dates in June, July and early August that would allow us to host in-person graduation ceremonies. Specific dates will be identified in the coming days and communicated as soon as possible. We will plan to host graduation ceremonies on the first of the identified dates the DU Ritchie Center is allowed to safely have the events. 

We believe the DU Ritchie Center to be the most viable option, not only because of its size and seating capacity, but it provides high-quality video streaming services. If social distancing is still highly restrictive and we have to limit the number of people who can attend, their streaming services will allow family, friends and other loved ones to view the ceremonies safely from their homes. 

We will also communicate potential graduation dates and venues for Options Secondary High School and the Transition Program. It is important to note that any in-person graduation ceremony will need the approval of local health departments before it can proceed. 

We know it is unfortunate to find ourselves in these circumstances and believe this is the best solution while still honoring our graduates in the most meaningful way possible. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Estimados estudiantes del último año de las Escuelas Públicas de Littleton (LPS) y familias:

Conforme a lo comunicado a fines de marzo, LPS está comprometido a celebrar las ceremonias de graduación de los estudiantes del último año en persona. Durante las recientes semanas, hemos planeado estas ceremonias siguiendo las recomendaciones y directivas de distanciamiento social del estado. Así como lo anunció el Gobernador Polis el día lunes, las reuniones de más de 10 personas están aún restringidas y continuarán estándolo en el futuro próximo. Dada la situación y en coordinación con la Universidad de Denver, hemos decidido postergar las ceremonias de graduación originalmente programadas para el sábado 23 de mayo. Esto incluye la postergación de las ceremonias de graduación de la preparatoria Options y de Servicios de Transición, programadas más temprano esa misma semana.

Somos conscientes de que estas son noticias decepcionantes pero estamos trabajando en identificar fechas para celebrar las ceremonias en persona. Los líderes de LPS y el equipo de la Universidad de Denver están trabajando en definir fechas que nos puedan permitir tener las ceremonias en julio, junio y temprano en agosto. En los próximos días, definiremos las fechas exactas y las comunicaremos tan pronto como sea posible. Planeamos celebrar las ceremonias de graduación en las primeras fechas que el Centro DU Ritchie (Universidad de Denver) identifique como permisibles para albergar eventos de manera sana y segura.

Creemos que el Centro DU Ritchie es la opción más viable, no solo por su tamaño y aforo, sino porque ofrece también servicios de transmisión de videos en línea de alta calidad. En caso que el distanciamiento social sea aún altamente restrictivo y haya que limitar el número de personas presentes, los servicios de transmisión en línea permitirán a las familias, amigos y otros seres queridos poder ver la ceremonia desde sus casas. 

Comunicaremos también las posibles fechas y sedes para las graduaciones de la preparatoria Options y del Programa de Servicios de Transición. Cabe destacar que toda ceremonia de graduación en persona debe ser aprobada anticipadamente por las autoridades de salud locales.

Es lamentable encontrarnos en estas circunstancias y creemos que esta es la mejor solución para poder honrar a nuestros graduados de la manera más especial y significativa posible. Agradecemos su apoyo y comprensión.
