Powell & Runyon Students Qualify for Destination Imagination Global Finals

Littleton Public Schools is excited to announce that two Destination Imagination teams have qualified for the Global Finals Tournament. The Powell “Slay Squad” placed 1st in their challenge, “In Plain Sight.” This challenge is a scientific challenge that required teams to research how animals survive using camouflage in nature and to make a presentation that includes a camouflaged character. The Runyon “Lightening Ladies” placed 2nd in their challenge, “The Meme Event.” This challenge required teams to design and execute a community service project and then present the results at tournament in a unique way. This is the first time either team has qualified for Global Finals.

Global Finals draws more than 8,000 students from all over the world. In addition to competing, students have the opportunity to explore creativity in a variety of skills workshops, corporate demonstrations and special events designed just for Destination Imagination participants.

“The Destination Imagination Challenge Program gives teams the opportunity to solve open-ended academic Challenges and present their solutions at local tournaments, which can qualify them to compete at Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee,” says the Global Finals website. “While solving one of the seven Challenges, team members learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas and the collaborative problem solving process.”

Global Finals will be held May 25-28 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
