FCCLA - Littleton Public Schools students from the Teacher Cadet and Early Childhood Education programs at Ames, Heritage High School and Littleton High School attended the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference March 31st through April 2nd.
The Ames Facility had five entries at state and brought home three gold medals and two silver medals. All three of the gold medalists were also national qualifiers. Heritage High School had 5 students participate and brought home a silver medal and four bronze medals. Littleton High School’s student participant received a silver medal at the conference.
FBLA - Students and advisors from Arapahoe, Heritage and Littleton attended the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference from April 14th through 16th. Nearly 3500 students, from around the state, participated in this year’s conference in Vail, Colorado.
Arapahoe High School had 58 students participate in the state conference. Three students earned 1st place awards, three earned 2nd place award and five earned 3rd place awards, with a total of 17 students placing Top 5 in the state and 38 placing Top 10 in the state. Thirteen AHS students qualified for nationals. Heritage High School had 10 students participate with impressive work throughout the competition. Littleton High School had 18 members compete with 12 students advancing to the final round of competition. LHS students earned two 1st place awards, one 3rd place award and one 5th place award.
DECA - Students from Arapahoe, Heritage and Littleton recently competed at the 2016 DECA International Career Development Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Held April 23rd through 26th, 17,000 students from across the United States, Canada, Spain, Puerto Rico and Mexico competed in this highly competitive conference.
Fourteen students from Arapahoe, two students from Heritage and ten students from Littleton attended the international conference. DECA competitions are designed to simulate real-life business scenarios and test students’ academic understanding and skills development. Among the many impressive finishes for LPS students at this year’s conference, Natalie Swartwout of Heritage was recognized for earning the highest test score in the Accounting Application Series and Henry Schaefer of Arapahoe received international recognition for his 1st place finish in the Personal Financial Literacy category. Schaefer’s top place finish is a phenomenal achievement and is indicative of the time and energy he has put into the Arapahoe DECA program.
