LPS Co-Presents at Thinking Collaborative Symposium

LPS Coordinator of Instructional Services, Mandy Leensvaart, joined Arapahoe High School’s Lauren Lee as co-presenters at the Diverse Voices, Thoughtful Choices: Thinking Collaborative symposium in Denver last month. Sponsored by Thinking Collaborative, the symposium helped individuals and organizations increase their performance and resourcefulness. Leensvaart and Lee led a breakout session titled “Creating and Living a Collective Identity of Collaborators, Inquirers, and Leaders”.

Speaking to participants from across the country and a guest from Saudi Arabia, the attendees included instructional coaches, building leaders, district leaders and educational leaders. The LPS duo shared the Littleton Public Schools instructional coach model with the group and gave participants an opportunity to:

  • Explore several ideas and tools for developing collaborative groups
  • Increase expertise in research-based instructional practices and strategies
  • Analyze a professional learning plan that honors adult learning theory

In the LPS Instructional Coach Model, they spoke about the direct alignment to values of Growth, Equity, Innovation, Professional Learning Communities and the States of Mind. Explicit connections to the current research and best practices in these areas were explored and connected to the collective identity of collaborators, inquirers and leaders.
