On April 28, 2022, Euclid Middle School students, staff, and parent volunteers gathered for a Fifth Grade Pep Rally and Future Falcon sign pick-up event. The event is designed to welcome incoming Euclid students, currently in fifth grade. In the words of Principal Cindy Corlett, “It was a fun team-building event and brought many smiles and cheers. It is such a positive, uplifting experience, and we got such great feedback that it has now become a tradition.”
This event is one of the good things that came out of the Covid-19 pandemic. Principal Corlett said, “We learned very quickly that we needed to think of new ways to welcome our students and families. This was a safe and fun way for our Future Falcons to feel a part of our school from the beginning. We even have our Euclid Falcon mascot as a part of the event, and that is always a fan favorite.” She says it’s such a popular event that there is no shortage of volunteers among staff, students, and parents to welcome incoming families. Student volunteers are often student leaders involved in clubs and student organizations like National Junior Honor Society, WEB (Where Every Student Belongs), and student council.
Participation is high, and the school immediately receives photos from “Future Falcons” showing the signs up in their yards. Other Euclid families also say it’s a lot of fun to see those signs throughout the community.
