Students at Arapahoe High School are turning the basketball double-header between AHS and Mullen into a fundraising opportunity. The goal is to raise money for victims of the Marshall Fire in Boulder County.
Sophie P. and Mason O. (both juniors), a photographer and videographer, respectively, run the Arapahoe Tribe Instagram account, through which they promote sports and activities at Arapahoe. Using this platform, they are also raising awareness about this fundraiser. The games are today, Thursday, January 27. The girls play at 5:30 p.m. and the boys play at 7:00 p.m.
They are collecting cash and chain restaurant gift cards. Everyone who contributes can enter into a raffle to participate in a basketball challenge at half-time, prizes for which were donated by local restaurants.
That’s not all, though. In the spirit of helping fellow Coloradans, the students are asking attendees to dress in Colorado-themed attire or colors (red, yellow, blue, and white).
Any questions can be directed to the Arapahoe Tribe Instagram account (@arapahoetribe_), and the flyer for the event can be found here.
