Standards Based Report Card

Understanding the Elementary Standards Based Report Card

The purpose of our standards-based report card is to communicate your child’s progress toward grade-level objectives aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards, including the Extended Evidence Outcomes, and the Collaborative on Academic and Social Emotional Learning (CASEL) Competencies. These standards are consistent across schools statewide and reflect end-of-year expectations for grade-level performance. Each semester, teachers assess whether your child is “on track” to achieve proficiency by year-end.

Our report card focuses on grade-level standards to maintain a consistent benchmark for all students.

Proficiency Level 4 - EXCEEDS Grade Proficiency

  • Colorado Academic Standards - Your child consistently demonstrates mastery beyond grade-level standards, demonstrating advanced understanding and application in new, complex situations.
  • Social Emotional Learning Competencies - Your child exceeds grade level expectations by self-monitoring and initiating the skill independently.

Proficiency Level 3 - MEETS Grade Proficiency

  • Colorado Academic Standards - Your child is proficient in the semester’s concepts and is on track to meet end-of-year grade-level standards.
  • Social Emotional Learning Competencies - Your child meets grade level expectations and recognizes and demonstrates the skill independently in multiple settings.

Proficiency Level 2 - PARTIALLY MEETS Grade Proficiency

  • Colorado Academic Standards - Your child is progressing toward proficiency but may need additional instruction and monitoring.
  • Social Emotional Learning Competencies - Your child is working towards proficiency with staff prompting and support. May not yet generalize this skill to multiple settings without direct support from staff.

Proficiency Level 1 - DOES NOT MEET Grade Proficiency

  • Colorado Academic Standards - Your child is not yet on track and requires intensive support and monitoring. Your child’s teacher(s) can provide more information about how your child is being supported and monitored.
  • Social Emotional Learning Competencies - Your child requires significant staff modeling, prompting and support. Staff at your child’s school can provide more information about how your child is receiving support and intervention to learn this skill.

Proficiency Level NA - Not Assessed

  • Colorado Academic Standards - Not assessed during this semester.
  • Social Emotional Learning Competencies - Not assessed during this semester (student may not have been in school long enough to be assessed).
