For his remarkable display of bravery and composure, Heritage High School senior Kamryn H. was recognized at the City of Englewood council meeting on August 19. A letter written to the City of Englewood council from Denver Fire Department detailed Kamryn’s selfless actions during a serious rollover accident earlier this summer.
As emergency crews from Denver Fire Department’s Truck 38 arrived on the scene, they were met with the sight of multiple individuals who had managed to exit an overturned vehicle. What they soon discovered was that these individuals had not escaped on their own; they had been assisted by Kamryn, a 17-year-old driver who happened to be involved in the accident.
Without hesitation, Kamryn immediately exited the vehicle he was in and, recognizing the gravity of the situation, forcefully removed the windshield and sunroof of the rolled vehicle, which had come to rest on its side. He assisted six occupants trapped inside. Among those he helped rescue were one infant, one toddler, and four adults. Thanks to his quick thinking and decisive actions, all six individuals were safely removed from the vehicle.
The Denver Fire Department praised Kamryn for his ability to maintain composure and exhibit maturity beyond his years during such a critical moment. The letter from Truck 38 commends Kamryn for his courage, noting that his actions were instrumental in keeping the situation from potentially becoming much worse.
Kamryn’s heroic actions serve as an inspiring example of the positive impact that one person can have in a time of crisis.
Thank you for your courageous and selfless actions, Kamryn! Your recognition at the City of Englewood's council meeting was well-deserved and LPS is proud of you!
