Metro State is now the Designated Agency for alternative licensure for Littleton Public Schools. Here is the process an applicant for alternative licensure must follow:
- Submit copies of official transcripts that document a Bachelor’s degree with conferred date. Do not mail documents to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE); upload them into the Statement of Eligibility (SOE) application. Under state rule, official copies of all post-secondary institutions attended (this would include community or junior colleges) must be submitted.
- Submit fingerprints to CBI on a CDE fingerprint card.
- For Elementary Education SOEs, either the PLACE #01 or Praxis II exam #5014 for Elementary Education is required.
- For Special Education, either PLACE #01 or Praxis II exam #5014 for Elementary Education exam are required for the SOE. To apply for an initial teacher license, the PLACE exam #20 for Special Education Generalist is required. It is recommended the test be taken as early as possible. Colorado does not accept the Praxis exam for Special Education.
- For the rest of the K-12 and Secondary endorsements, the minimum academic requirements (there are worksheets available online) must be met OR take the exam. Colorado only accepts the Praxis II content exams for Elementary Education, Secondary English, Secondary Math, Secondary General Science and Secondary Social Studies (the correct exam numbers are on the worksheets.)
- Most of the pertinent information is online (www.cde.state.co.us) Candidates should apply and if there is a problem or question, CDE will contact the candidate.
- Complete an on-line Littleton Public School teacher application. Go to the Apply Now / Open Positions page, click on the Apply Now button that will take you to AppliTrack, and attach your completed application to all jobs of interest to you. Attach transcripts, reference letters, resume, etc., per directions.
- Obtain an interview for a teaching position at one of our schools.
- Obtain a teaching contract at one of our schools.
- Upon obtaining a teaching contract, candidates then enroll in the Metro State Alternative Licensure Program.
