Next fall, 8th graders who are ready for high school-level instruction can get a jump-start on their high school experience. This program, in its first year at Littleton High, is designed for 8th grade students who excel in the arts, technical fields, math or sciences.
In this new program, 8th graders who are socially and academically ready for a greater challenge will have the opportunity to become full-time students at Littleton High School. They will take a combination of 8th grade and high school classes, completing academic prerequisites earlier and making room for more choices later in high school. These students will have more flexibility in whatever academic pathway they pursue -- International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), concurrent enrollment courses, STEM, or Career/Technical Education courses.
A unique experience for 8th graders
8th graders will take classes alongside Littleton High School students but will convene for a daily Humanities block consisting of the state-required language arts and social studies curricula. 8th graders will have a sequestered, closed-campus lunch for additional support and socializing. They can participate in school clubs and activities, but not athletics sponsored by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA). Interest in Early High School was very high last year, and now is the time for 7th graders to apply for 2018-2019!
