MEAL DISTRIBUTION AT POWELL DURING HYBRID LEARNING - LPS Nutrition Services is providing student meals for times when they are learning at home and on the weekends!  These meal bags can be picked up at the end of the day at the 4 main exits of the building on either Monday or Tuesday depending on the day your student is in school.  Meal bags will have 5 days worth of food in them and families simply complete this form to sign up.  For more information contact the Director of Nutrition Services at jgould[at][dot]us.





The 2020–2021 school year may look different for many LPS families, but LPS Nutrition Services remains dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to healthy breakfasts and lunches, whether they are learning at home or in school buildings.

Safety Precautions for Food Service

Nutrition Services has planned and implemented extensive safety precautions for meal delivery. 

  • Staff serving meals, either at hub school locations for families or in-person in schools, will be wearing masks and face shields.
  • Staff distributing meals at hub school locations will sanitize their hands between households. 
  • Frequent hand washing will remain a part of daily protocols in schools – staff will wash hands between tasks and any time they handle a new item. 
  • Nutrition Services staff will be entering PIN numbers for students to mitigate potential germ spreading via keypads. 
  • Food that is not prepackaged will be served by a staff member to a student.
  • Students will be able to take their own prepackaged food

Other changes Nutrition Services has made due to COVID-19 include limiting daily menu options to increase line speed and to limit waste. Jessica Gould, director of nutrition services, said, “Until we have a better understanding of who all will be eating with us, we are trying to ensure we are maximizing our dollars while limiting any waste.” A limited number of a la carte items will also be available for sale.
To help prevent cross-contamination and the spread of germs, the department also will request that students purchase items they have touched in the serving line.  Please encourage your student to not sort through the milk options or touch items on the serving line that they do not intend to purchase.  

Meal prices for the 2020-2021 school year: 
Breakfast: $2.15

Lunch: $3.50
Milk Only: $0.85

Families are encouraged to put money on their student's lunch account at Titan Family Portal.  They can also apply for free and reduced meals on the portal.  *Please note: families qualifying for reduced price meals will receive meals free of charge as well in LPS.   With the current change shortage happening across the country, Nutrition Services may not be able to provide change for cash sales.  Change for sales may be added to a student/teacher's account if the cashier does not have enough change.


Meals for Students Learning at Home
Families with students who are learning from home will have the opportunity to pick up breakfasts and lunches once per week for the whole week. Temporary Online Program for Students (TOPS) families will be able to get up to five breakfasts and five lunches for each student, and families with students in a hybrid in-person/remote learning model will be able to get up to three breakfasts and lunches for each student (schedule below). Students do not have to be present at meal pickup, but their student ID number must be provided to the Nutrition Services team for their point-of-sale system. Meal prices will be based on student eligibility, just as they would be if the student was eating in the school (click here to fill out a 2020–2021 free and reduced price meal application).

TOPS families’ meal pickup will take place outdoors at hub schools, similar to Nutrition Services’ “Grab & Go” service over the summer. Middle and high school students participating in the hybrid in-person/remote instruction model will be able to pick up their meals at their school or at the hub schools identified for TOPS students on Mondays/Fridays. All food available for pickup is prepackaged. If your family has students with food allergies or sensitivities, please call Nutrition Services to make arrangements for special meals at your family’s pickup location (303-347-3355).
