6th Grade Elective Sign-Up Form

  • Powell’s electronic Elective Sign Up Form will be available later this spring. Families are asked to complete this form with their students once available.
  • Click HERE to view our 2021-2022 Curriculum Guide.

Math Placement

  • For in-district students, we will rely on an internal process for math placement. For out-of-district students, we will base math placement on transcripts, grades, and standardized test scores. We may request a letter of recommendation from your student's 5th-grade teacher to know what skills and concepts they mastered.

Music Instrument Screening

  • Mr. Eilert, our Band and Orchestra teacher, will help students decide what instrument to play when school starts in August. If you have any questions about Band or Orchestra, please contact deilert[at][dot]us.

Schedule Pick Up Day

  • Date and time TBD - Pick up your schedule, take your school picture, and take home your planner.

Pride Day

  • Date and time TBD. This is our new student orientation program that pairs 8th Grade Pride Leaders with new students. There are many fun games and activities that take place on the football field designed to orient and begin the process of meeting new students. We encourage all new students to attend. Students have the opportunity to see the Powell Staff and begin to familiarize themselves with the building and the location of their classes.

First Day of School Orientation

  • August 17th, 8:54 - 10:54 am. 6th graders begin their first day of middle school 2 hours before our 7th and 8th grade classes.  This affords them an opportunity to navigate the building initially with fewer students.

Digital Citizenship

  • We encourage you to read this information on teaching responsible technology usage as your child transitions to middle school.

If you have other questions about the 6th-grade transition, please contact counselor Dawn Davies at ddavies[at][dot]us or 303-347-5270.
