Powell’s Family-Teacher conferences are fast approaching.  We will be holding these conferences on the evening of Wednesday, October 13th, beginning at 4:30 pm and concluding at 8:00 pm (doors close at 7:30 pm).  Our second day of conferences will be Thursday, October 14th, beginning at 9 am and concluding at 12 pm.  Our conference format will once again be student-led, and students are expected to attend and participate with their parents.  You do not need to sign up for a time slot. However, we ask families to exercise patience and grace as you may experience a wait to meet with your student’s teachers.  This is our first in-person conference opportunity in nearly two years and we expect a high volume of families.

Be sure to have conversations with your student about his or her learning prior to conferences in order for us to be productive and positive with our time.  Please know that our students’ grades are marked as “in progress.”  We hope and expect these grades to improve over the course of this semester.  As you have also heard, middle school student grades will be separated into two categories: Work Habits and Content Learning.  Please speak with your student’s teachers about their respective performance in these areas.  These conversations ought to continue through the remainder of the year as they are critical to your student’s learning and growth.
