Congratulations to our creative writing students at Powell! 11 students participated in the Wishing World Doolivanti Character Writing and Art contest. Three entries rose to the top against over 300 other students from around the Denver metro area. 6th grader, Arianna Evangelista, placed 5th in the art contest; 7th grader Sarah Oro placed 1st place in the art contest and took 4th place in the writing contest; Sarah was the only student to score so strongly in both areas; and lastly, 6th grader, Shanta Rechkemmer placed 1st in the character writing contest. Both Shanta's character and Sarah's art will be featured in local author, Todd Fahnestock's upcoming book, The Loremaster. In recognition of these students' efforts, Powell Middle School will be awarded $1000 from the Rose Family Foundation in support of reading, writing, and the arts! We are proud to have such creative and dedicated students representing Powell!
