National School Counseling Week is February 7–11, 2022. According to the American School Counselor Association, the purpose for the week-long recognition is “to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within US school systems…[it] highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.”
Nate Thompson, director of social, emotional, and behavior services, said, "School counselors are a critical part of our public schools. Every day across the district, they are supporting academic success, teaching social skills, providing crisis intervention, connecting families to resources, and preparing students for their next step in life. We appreciate the tireless efforts of our school counselors to help students connect, learn, and grow at school." School counselors are nothing short of superheroes. They are a reliable source of comfort, advice, understanding, guidance, and just an overall positive presence in our schools, and we cannot thank them enough for the work they do on behalf of all students.
Please take the time to thank a school counselor this week!
