When Wilder Elementary School students transitioned to remote learning in the spring of 2020, they lost something precious: their sense of community.
The solution? Each student created a self portrait using specific guidelines. The portraits show students' individuality and personal perspectives. The art was curated into a virtual exhibit showing that, although the students are different, they all fit together. The community is still there; it was never really lost, and every student belongs.
Please feel free to send your comments about the students' art to their teacher, Jill Day (jday[at]lps.k12.co[dot]us), who will pass them along to the artists.
