October is Colorado Safe Schools Month - an annual opportunity to remind students, staff and community members of the importance of school safety. The LPS Board of Education formally recognized this designation at their meeting on October 11, 2018. Littleton Public Schools will observe Safe Schools Month by sponsoring building-level and district-wide activities to promote safe schools.
LPS will highlight district efforts to prevent crime and violence, bullying, aggression, substance abuse, suicide concerns, gang activity, vandalism and absenteeism as part of observing Colorado Safe Schools Month. Safe schools posters are displayed in every school in an effort to remind students and staff of how they can report safety concerns, and that there are supportive adults throughout our schools to help.
As part of Safe Schools Month, LPS will host a special event focusing on mental health, LPS: We Are Stronger, for parents and the LPS community on October 29th, 7:00-8:30pm at the Southside Fellowship Church, 6560 S. Broadway in Littleton. Sponsored by the Littleton Public Schools Foundation and the Littleton Adventist Hospital Foundation, event topics will include:
What are the protective factors that get us through difficult times and help prevent stress, substance abuse and suicide?
What can parents do to help their kids become strong, resilient and healthy?
Hearing from LPS students about how they are spreading a message of hope, help and strength!
Learn about the Littleton Sources of Strength program and how you can get involved.
