Littleton Public Schools was well represented at the 2018 Denver Post Colorado State Spelling Bee on March 10th at the University of Denver. After a tough district competition on February 7th, representatives from Euclid Middle School, Newton Middle School, Littleton Academy and Littleton Preparatory moved on to compete against the state’s other top spellers.
After many spirited rounds, ‘spinneret’ and ‘arbalest’ were the district competition’s winning words. District-winner Noah Cohrs (Newton) was joined by runners-up Will Ballard (Littleton Academy), Maya Bagley (Littleton Academy), Connor Flower (Littleton Academy), Jack Dyer (Euclid) and Isabella Thornber (Littleton Preparatory) at the State Bee.
LPS is proud to congratulate Noah, Will, Maya, Connor, Jack and Isabella for representing Littleton Public Schools at the State Spelling Bee, and is also pleased to congratulate all of the students who participated in the LPS District Spelling Bee. The district’s competition was made possible thanks to the Gifted and Talented Facilitators/Spelling Bee coaches, judges Darcy Johnson, Patti Turner and Alison Pukurpol, as well as the staff at Powell Middle School and Littleton High School Principal Dr. Amy Oaks who served as the pronouncer.
