David Decker, a Business teacher at Littleton High School, received the “New Teacher of the Year” Award for the 2015-2016 school year from the Colorado Marketing Education Association—a professional organization for marketing teachers in Colorado.
Nominated by one of his peers and two of his students, Decker received the award at the DECA State Conference in late February. As Littleton’s school sponsor for DECA, Decker annually takes students to this highly competitive conference. This year, ten of Decker’s students earned top awards and qualified for the National DECA Conference in April.
Decker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver and a Masters of Education degree in Business and Marketing from Regis University. He came to Littleton Public Schools after working in the private sector for ten years. A dedicated teacher and mentor, Decker was also recognized by the Boettcher Foundation’s Teacher Recognition Awards Program this past July.
