Summer of 2015 Sees Major Bond Work Across the District – Thank You LPS Voters!

Improvements to Littleton Public Schools facilities across the district continue, thanks to the community’s passage of the $80 million bond in November 2013.

Improvements are underway in many schools this summer. Because critical systems in some schools had to be shut down while they were being updated or replaced, some schools had to be vacated for the summer. Building codes require schools to be empty when these systems are not operational and the district “turns over” responsibility for schools to the contractors during this time. Offices in affected schools were temporarily relocated to another school beginning May 27. Summer programs in affected schools moved to another school for the summer, as well. All school offices are scheduled to reopen August 10.

Moving to a temporary location over the summer has been an inconvenience for staff, students, and families, and we thank you for your patience. This is a districtwide project, and more schools will be undergoing these same improvements in the summers of 2016 and 2017, as well.

The work being done this summer will improve safety, prolong the life of our aging schools, and improve the learning environment for students and staff. The bond work will result in updated security systems, updated fire alarm systems, faster high-speed internet, repaired roofs, and improved mass notification systems.   Heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems will be improved, which means they will run more quietly and efficiently.

Thank you for your continued support of your neighborhood schools!
