The annual District Spelling Bee brought excitement and fierce competition to the EPIC Campus on Wednesday, February 5, as students from across the district vied for a chance to represent Littleton Public Schools at the Colorado State Spelling Bee in March.
A total of 60 top spellers from Grades 4–8 were invited to participate, with 52 students stepping up to the challenge. These exceptional spellers earned their spots in one of three ways:
Guiding the competition was LPS School Board President Angela Christensen, who served as the event’s pronouncer, leading the students through six intense rounds. Competitors tackled challenging words like anise, facetious, gaspesian, aficionado, and ullage.
The final round came down to two outstanding spellers, with Ray Chen, a sixth grader from Goddard Middle School, emerging victorious by correctly spelling novanglian and kingdom. Our runner-up, Mukill Surjith Singh, a fifth grader from Hopkins Elementary School, also demonstrated incredible skill and perseverance.
Both Ray and Mukil will advance to the Colorado State Spelling Bee in March, proudly representing LPS at the next level of competition.
Congratulations on an outstanding job to all of our talented spellers!
