Development in the LHS Football Program Investigation

Dear LPS Families, Employees, and Community Members:

Earlier today, we shared an important update with the LHS community regarding an ongoing investigation. In our previous communication, we committed to providing additional information as it became available, and we believe it’s essential to share this update with you as well.

Dear Littleton High School Families, Employees, and Community Members:

There has been a development in the Littleton Police Department’s (LPD) investigation into alleged hazing within the Littleton High School (LHS) football program, and we wanted to share that with you in the spirit of transparency.  

Earlier today, former LHS head football coach Lance Vieira was issued a ticket for reckless endangerment, which is a misdemeanor, by LPD related to his role with the LHS football team. To be clear, this citation was issued as a result of the investigation, but is not related to the original assault allegation. As you know, Mr. Vieira is no longer employed with the program. There remains an ongoing investigation with the Littleton Police Department. 

We recognize that this has been a difficult experience for many of us, and we appreciate your continued support as we navigate this situation and support the students who have been impacted. We are committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment within our school, and that includes LHS athletic programs. We have used this situation as an opportunity to continue to review our policies and processes, and to remind every teacher, administrator, and coach of our expectations and their legal obligations.

Acontecimiento sobre la investigación del programa de fútbol americano de LHS

Hoy, compartimos con la comunidad de LHS un acontecimiento importante sobre una investigación en curso. En nuestra previa comunicación, nos comprometimos a proveer información adicional al estar disponible y creemos que también es importante compartir este acontecimiento con ustedes.

Estimadas familias de Littleton High School, empleados y miembros de la comunidad:

Ha habido un acontecimiento en la investigación del Departamento de Policía de Littleton (conocido por sus siglas en inglés LPD) sobre las presuntas novatadas dentro del programa de fútbol americano de Littleton High School (LHS) y queríamos compartirlo con ustedes en ánimo de la transparencia.

Hoy, el ex entrenador de fútbol americano de LHS, Lance Vieira, recibió por parte de LPD una multa por peligro imprudente, que es un delito menor, en relación con su participación en el equipo de fútbol americano de LHS. Para ser claros, esta multa fue otorgada como resultado de la investigación, pero no está relacionada con la presunta agresión original. Como usted sabe, el Sr. Vieira ya no trabaja para el programa.  Sigue habiendo una investigación en curso con el Departamento de Policía de Littleton.

Nosotros reconocemos que esto ha sido una experiencia difícil para muchos de nosotros. Les agradecemos su apoyo continuo mientras navegamos esta situación y apoyamos a los estudiantes que han sido afectados. Estamos comprometidos a fomentar un ambiente seguro y respetuoso en nuestra escuela y eso incluye los programas atléticos de LHS. Nosotros hemos usado esta oportunidad para revisar nuestras políticas y procesos. También le recordamos a cada maestro, administrador y entrenador sus expectativas y obligaciones legales.
