Optimist Know Brainer Competition

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, the Optimist Club of Littleton hosted the Know Brainer Bowl at East Elementary. The Know Brainer is an event for fourth and fifth grade students, and it’s modeled after the Brain Bowl competition for middle school. Teams compete in one round of written questions and multiple rounds of oral questions. Rounds consist of general knowledge questions in math, science, technology, history, geography, literature, and the arts.

Two teams from LPS participated alongside teams from Jefferson County Public Schools and Douglas County School District; the team from Littleton Academy placed second, and the team from East Elementary placed fourth.

Members of the Littleton Academy team included Evan Chiang, Haris Jordan, Akio Kuramoto, Waylon Lackey, Owen Lush, Thomas McCauley, and Rayhan Thakur. The team was coached by Laini Hartzell, the elementary honors and gifted and talented (G/T) teacher at Littleton Academy.

The team from East Elementary included Cohen Barrett, Peter Dodge, Mae Noonan, Riley Race, Paige Williamson, and Jada Wright. This team was coached by Nancy Copher, the G/T teacher at East.

Congratulations to both teams from LPS; we are so proud of you, and we hope you had a great time!
