LPS Nutrition Services Provides "Fuel to Live & Learn"

LPS Nutrition Services continues to improve the quality and variety of meal choices while meeting all federal requirements. Meal serving lines were improved last summer as part of the 2013 Bond Program. More meals are being prepared “from scratch” using fresh ingredients and healthy preparation techniques. Our Harvest Bar concept offers more fresh fruit and vegetable choices daily. Registered dieticians collaborate with Nutrition Services to provide meals that meet the increasingly stringent USDA guidelines and taste great!

Breakfast is served before school at The Village Preschool; Ralph Moody, and Centennial Academy; Euclid and Goddard middle schools; Heritage and Littleton high schools. “Breakfast in the Classroom” after the first bell is available at no charge to all students at both Field and East elementary schools. Lunch is served in all LPS schools. Nearly 1 million meals are served each year in LPS schools!

It is our goal to keep meal prices affordable to families, and we are proud that we are able to keep meal prices lower than many other school districts. Sometimes meal prices must be increased due to state and federal mandates through the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010. Beginning in July 2015, slight increases are necessary for elementary and middle breakfast, and elementary lunch.

Prices for the 2015 - 2016 school year are as follows:

BREAKFAST PRICES

Elementary         $1.40

Middle School     $1.60

High School        $1.75

Adult                   $2.25

LUNCH PRICES

Elementary          $2.70

Middle School      $2.90

High School         $3.00

Adult                     $3.75

All students who qualify for reduced meal benefits receive breakfast at no charge. Additionally, PK - 5th grade students who qualify for reduced meal benefits also receive lunch at no charge. Free and Reduced Price Meal Benefits can help ensure children have access to healthy, nutritious meals during the school day. These benefits are available to any families that meet the income and household size guidelines for the program. Visit www.lpsnutrition.com or call 303.347.3360 for additional information.
