Dear LPS Community,
On behalf of Littleton Public Schools, I am delighted to let you know that Ms. Teresa Burden has been selected as the principal for the new elementary school on the Ames campus.
Ms. Burden has been the principal of Twain elementary for the past three years. In addition to her LPS principal experience, Ms. Burden served as an assistant principal for three years in a neighboring district. She brings strong credentials and a wealth of experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix, and a Principal Licensure from Lamar University. She has taught in multiple elementary grade levels and served as a K-5 Response to Intervention Specialist. She has a passion and expertise for elementary education.
In addition to her professional qualifications and depth of experience, Ms. Burden brings a big heart for students, staff, and community. She is a leader who believes in every child. The interview team noticed her many strengths, including a commitment to building positive relationships with students, staff and families, strong instructional leadership skills, and a desire to partner with all stakeholders in opening the new school.
Ms. Burden is looking forward to partnering with staff, parents, students, and community to open the new school on the Ames campus in August 2021. Her work for the 2020-2021 school year includes developing partnerships with parents, students and staff to begin building the new school community. She will be deeply involved in the many aspects and details of opening a new school building.
There will be multiple opportunities to meet Ms. Burden, the first of which will be on March 16th as part of the new school updates for parents. As a reminder, parents are invited to learn about the new schools on the Ames and Franklin campuses on March 16th at 5:30 p.m. in the Highland cafeteria. Ms. Burden will be present and is looking forward to meeting Highland and Franklin parents.
