Today shortly after 1:00 p.m., LPS Security placed Littleton High School and Littleton Preparatory on Secure. A Secure is initiated when there is police activity in the vicinity of a school to keep our students safe.
There was an increased police presence in the area today that had nothing to do with the schools. Out of an abundance of caution, Littleton Police Department advised district security to put LHS and Littleton Prep on Secure.
There was no danger to students and staff. The school day proceeded as normal with students staying inside until about 1:33 p.m. when LPS Security was advised by law enforcement that students could resume normal activities outside.
Families from these schools should have received a text message today when the Secure was initiated and again when it was lifted. If you did not receive the text, please check your SMS permissions in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Please see the district’s website for more information about emergency response procedures.
We want to take this opportunity to thank our partners in LPS Security and the Littleton Police Department for their timely and appropriate action today. We also thank our students and staff for their response; they knew exactly what to do.
We take every report of a possible threat or concern seriously and will act accordingly. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep our students safe.
