Heritage High School counselor Maureen Stewart recently participated in the National Center for Women and Information Technology’s (NCWIT) Counselors for Computing program at Colorado School of Mines. Counselors for Computing is designed to prepare teachers and counselors to help increase student access to computer science education and was offered during Computer Science Professional Development Week.
Computer Science Professional Development Week is one of many efforts under the White House’s Computer Science for All initiative. The initiative reflects the need to empower students to learn computer science and the computational skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Maureen Stewart’s participation in this program is a reflection of her commitment to her own professional development and of her commitment to best preparing Heritage students for post-secondary success.
