The 17th Annual Denver Chalk Art Festival attracted 220 professional artists and youth groups, including Heritage High School artists who took part in the event held on June 1st and 2nd in downtown Larimer Square. Working on an 8-foot-by-8-foot square of pavement, the artists were judged on their finished piece, as well as their technique and interactions with festival-goers. Each square was sponsored by a small business, which makes the festival free for both artists and visitors.
