Tami Wasson, Kitchen Manager at Field Elementary School, was named the Manager of the Year by the Colorado School Nutrition Association and will be receiving her award at the summer conference in June. The Manager of the Year award, in honor of Louise Sublette, recognizes school nutrition managers for the contributions they have made throughout their school nutrition career. In addition to managing nutrition services at Field Elementary, Tami also oversees the production of lunches for one of LPS’ charter schools. She has built strong relationships with the teachers and administrators at Field. Tami shares her knowledge, work simplification tools, ordering tips and tricks with other kitchen employees, while helping them move into leadership positions. This mentoring has helped new managers feel empowered to do their job accurately and efficiently.
Tami also serves as the lead manager for the Littleton Public Schools Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), which provides FREE lunches for all children ages 1-18 during the long summer vacation. Her creative side came to light last Christmas when the Field Gingerbread House tied for first place in the 3rd Annual Nutrition Services Gingerbread House Contest at the ESC.
