Field Day at Twain Elementary School

Upbeat music, kids everywhere, laughter, the smell of sunscreen and wet grass, and even a rubber chicken or two–all indications of a successful Field Day at Twain Elementary School on Friday, May 13, 2022.

Field Day has been an elementary school “rite of passage” for decades. You probably remember potato sack races and other games where you could earn a ribbon. It’s a sign and a taste of summer, a chance to get outside with classmates and enjoy some silliness. There were ribbons aplenty, and games included the age-old potato sack race as well as some new ones, like the rubber chicken relay, a frisbee toss, relay races involving hurdles, a station where teams of two had to travel up a hill and back while keeping a squishy ball sandwiched between each others’ backs (hilarious to watch, by the way), and hula hoops!

Students, teachers, other building staff, and parent volunteers all had a great time, and everyone is looking forward to summer more than ever after the tantalizing preview.
