Katy Kennedy, ELD teacher at East Elementary, has earned the honor of being named a 2021–2022 World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Fellow. WIDA is a consortium of state departments of education that designs and implements high standards for equitable educational opportunities for English learners. The WIDA Fellowship program began 3 years ago, and Andrea Scott, ELD teacher at Goddard, was honored the year of this program's inception. LPS is the only Colorado school district with two people from the same district to receive this award, of which we should all be very proud.
Katy is one of only 10 teachers honored at the national level. She will be awarded a $2,000 stipend and will meet virtually every month with other honorees.
Congratulations to Katy, and thank you for your leadership and dedication to the students of East Elementary and the LPS community.
