On Thursday, October 8th at approximately 1:20 p.m. a Black Hawk helicopter landed on Goddard Middle School’s East Field. Goddard counselor Mark Sikora, in collaboration with The Colorado National Guard Joint Counterdrug Task Force and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), organized this special assembly for Goddard’s Annual Red Ribbon Week Celebration. The Red Ribbon Campaign's mission is to mobilize communities to educate youth and to encourage participation in drug prevention activities.
DEA agents spoke to students about the importance of making positive choices and staying drug free. Goddard was one of a number of schools throughout the state that applied and was accepted for this opportunity.
Goddard also invited students’ parents as well as 5th grade students from Centennial Elementary and Wilder Elementary to share in this special event. “This was an opportunity to partner with our parents and feeder elementary schools to educate our students about the importance of making positive choices and remaining drug free,” said Goddard Principal Brian Breuer.
