Arapahoe High School senior Sydney Bates was a recent recipient of the Chick Evans Scholarship—a full, four-year housing and tuition college grant awarded to golf caddies. Bates, who caddies at Columbine Country Club, will attend the University of Colorado in Boulder this fall.

The Western Golf Association, through the Evans Scholarship Program, has been awarding these prestigious grants since 1930. According to the Western Golf Association Evans Scholarship Foundation (WGAESF) website, “Evans Scholars are chosen based on demonstrating a strong caddie record, excellent academics, financial need and outstanding leadership and character.”
