Marc Finer, a Technology Education teacher at Newton Middle School, will have a seat on the 2019-2020 International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA) Board of Directors after being elected as the Region 4 ITEEA Director in November. Finer began his teaching career in the suburbs of Boston before moving to Colorado and has been teaching Technology Education at Newton since 2001.
The ITEEA is a nonprofit professional organization that was created in 1939 as the American Industrial Arts Association, with a focus on supporting the study of the industrial arts in schools. That focus shifted with the advancement of technology and the changing nature of the industrial world to a mission of promoting technological literacy and innovation for all students through professionalism in the teaching and learning about technology and engineering. This focus has caused the association to be one of the prime players within the STEM education movement with primary interest in the “T & E” of STEM.
