It was a day almost five years in the making. Saturday dawned with perfect weather for a ribbon cutting event at LPS’s new Explorative Pathways for Innovative Careers “EPIC” Campus.
The EPIC Campus started as a dream for expanding the district’s career and technical education offerings, and in 2018 with the community’s passing of the $298 million bond, LPS was one step closer. Bond funds allowed for the purchase of the Schomp property: two buildings that now house the EPIC Campus.
In the years since, much work has been done, not only on the property and the buildings themselves, but in working with industry partners and planning out the career pathways offered and all of the classes in each pathway.
As of this fall, Littleton Public Schools high school students have access to a state-of-the-art facility that allows them to explore passions with learning they might not otherwise get to experience in high school.
All of this work and the amazing results were celebrated on Saturday, August 26 with a huge crowd gathered for the ribbon cutting. Breakfast burritos, EPIC-styled sugar cookies, the EPIC coffee shop, and a crepe food truck were on-hand to make sure no one was hungry or thirsty as they watched the Littleton High School marching band and took self-led tours through the campus. Students from each pathway were available for community members to ask questions and provide an inside look at what they are already studying.
It was an exciting event for an even more exciting facility, and LPS students are going to continue to do amazing things!
