Professor Dinesh Mehta, who teaches Computer Science at Colorado School of Mines, spoke with students in the Intro to Computer Science classes today. Professor Mehta, who teaches an algorithm class at School of Mines, talked about how to write better programs. He shared that about 6 weeks into his college career majoring in Computer Science, he thought he'd made a huge mistake, but he persevered and thinks it's a great field for those who are interested. With today's emphasis on Big Data, Professor Mehta said, "You need to be able to think mathematically to develop faster algorithms [to deal with that data]. Smart people are needed to do this."
