AHS Grad Carlson Anchors For First Time

Class of 2015 graduate Mike "DJ" Carlson recently spent his first night in the anchor chair at KOMU in Columbia, Missouri. The University of Missouri is the only university in the nation to own a real broadcast news station (in this case it is an NBC affiliate not too unlike our friends at 9 News). This basically means that broadcast students (like Mike) do all of their journalistic work for real ratings and for a real market. Part of this entails having student anchors who work along broadcast professionals as their co-anchors, so that they can learn the ropes. Mike was one of the founding members of The Spear student broadcasting club at AHS.
