We are stronger - A Community Event - October 29th at 7:00 - 8:30 pm
This event will provide an introduction to the Sources of Strength program that is transforming the culture in LPS secondary schools. Bring your teen and hear from LPS students and staff about how they are using a positive peer-led model to counteract the challenges our youth face today such as stress, substance abuse, and suicide. Come find out more and how you can help support Sources of Strength in our community. Pre-registration is not required. Flyer attached.
 
Marijuana Workshop for Elementary Parents - October 24th 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Are you ready to talk to your kids about marijuana and THC? Presented by staff from LPS and the Colorado Dept. of Public Health, this workshop will help parents understand the facts about retail marijuana products, the impact of marijuana on the brain and how to start the conversation at home.  Flyer attachedClick here to register

SafeTALK - October 26th, 8:00 - 11:00 am ESC Building
SafeTALK prepares participants to identify people with thoughts of suicide and connect them with life-saving first aid resources. This is a great opportunity for parents, coaches, or other community members who want to know how to help a potentially suicidal person. The workshop is open to any adult or youth 16 years or older. To register please email Debbie Honeker at dhoneker[at]lps.k12.co[dot]us.
 
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training - November 1-2, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
ASIST is a two-day workshop for professionals and other caring adults who want to learn how to carry out life-saving interventions for people at risk of suicide. To register or find out additional training dates, email Debbie Honeker at dhoneker[at]lps.k12.co[dot]us.
 
First Aid/CR/AED Trainings
Sponsored by the LPS Security Department, the trainings are open to all LPS Parents, Community Members, and youth above the age of 11. The two-year certification cost is $26.00. Participants must make payment arrangements prior to attending the course. Various dates are available. To get more information and enroll in a course, email Dara Van Kampen at dvankampen[at]lps.k12.co[dot]us. The class is held at the Ames Facility from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm and multiple sessions are offered throughout the year.
